Data protection projects usually open with a document and then fade, because nobody established where the material actually was. These two lines run in an honest order. Find it. Measure it. Rule on it afterwards.
Regulated material spreads by entirely ordinary means. A report exported to read on a train. An attachment dropped onto a desktop. A shared folder still standing after the project that built it. None of it careless, all of it accumulating.
The survey reads endpoints, along with whichever shares they can see, hunting personal information and card numbers, and pins a figure to every device. That figure is the useful output. It converts an uneasy feeling into a ranked list, and a ranked list is something a small team can get through.
Enforcement encrypts the file rather than the disk, so protection travels with the document into places that are rather less careful. Compliance profiles are chosen to match the regime you genuinely answer to instead of every regime at once.
Application control decides which programs may go near protected material. That is the part which catches the ordinary exit: not a dramatic theft, simply a file opened by something with no business opening it.
Every figure below comes out of billing while this page draws. Anything entered waits inside the almanac, and reading on will not disturb it.
Nothing gets governed before it gets found. This line surveys endpoints, and the shares they can see, hunting personal information and card numbers, works out where exposure currently stands, and divides that figure across devices so remediation gains an order instead of a mood.
| Sighted on | macOS, Windows and Linux devices, plus shares within their reach |
|---|---|
| Tracks | Where regulated material lives, of which kind, and in what quantity |
| Archived for | Survey results and per device figures, kept while the line runs |
| Resolved by | A ranked remediation list, worked through with our engineers |
| Observed by | Actifile |
The survey says where the material is. This line does something about it: encryption applied to the files themselves, compliance profiles matched to the rules you genuinely answer to, and a say over which applications are allowed near the data at all.
| Sighted on | Devices carrying material you decided to protect |
|---|---|
| Tracks | Access to protected files, and the routes data leaves along |
| Archived for | Access and policy records held per device while the line runs |
| Resolved by | Policy enforced on the device, with our engineers tuning it |
| Observed by | Actifile |
This work has a real edge, and it is worth knowing where it sits before you buy.
